Jim @ Sim out on a limb (Silk Road Travels)

In June 2009 Jim (James) and Sim (Simone) decided to quit their jobs in London, pack up their belongings and travel the old Silk Road. This blog is about our travels from Beirut to Kazakhstan.

“We travel not for trafficking alone, By hotter winds our firey hearts are fanned. For lust of knowing what should not be known We take the Golden Road to Samarkand”

Central Asia and Middle East – travel from Almaty back to Switzerland….

Soon, I will be on the road for approx. 5.5 months from Almaty back to Switzerland. Together with my best friend Christian and Marcel, we will take of to Almaty/Kazachstan on July 16. Kirgistan, Tadjikistan, Usbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran is planned, before the ongoing trip is still unclear (and will remain unclear until Teheran, I guess). However, the plan is to travel overland back home, probably overland to North Africa and then crossing the sea by boat or … I will see, but be back home around Christmas… Updates will follow if possible! Hi to all of you…

Four months, two weddings, three continents…

This travel blog will follow our trip across China and Central Asia, as we make our way from Hong Kong through the south-western provinces and Tibet, up to the Silk Road and into the ‘stans; across to France and on to Cuba, the Caribbean, Miami and Central America.

Retired, happy and spending the kids inheritance on our OAP gap year. Why should the youngsters have all the fun. We are travelling from Istanbul to Kathmandou for three months and we would be very happy if you would like to follow our progress. Hopefully we’ll be in enough places where we are able to fire up the computer! See you soon, Chill Man! James and Margaret
