Travel Prices in Kyrgyzstan

Travel Prices in Kyrgyzstan

I’ve traveled to a lot of countries, but there are a few that don’t make the cut for The World’s Cheapest Destinations book because most people can’t even find them on a map, much less figure out why they’d want to travel there. Today I’ve got a guest post on Kyrgyzstan, a place that even tripped up the U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry, who called it “Kyrzakhstan.”

Stephen Lioy tells me I’m missing a great place with great prices though, so he’s taking the reins today and showing off some nice photos too. Take it away Stephen!

Kyle Dempster: A Climber’s Ride on the Backroads of Kyrgyzstan | The Bicycle Story

Kyle Dempster is one of the top alpine climbers in the world. The 29 year old has pioneered new routes on some of the tallest mountains including Baintha Brakk in Pakistan and K7 in the Karakoram. He has won a Piolet d’Or and several Golden Pitons, awards that recognize mountaineering’s greatest accomplishments each year. In 2011, he spent two months on a solo expedition, bike touring the backroads of Kyrgyzstan and climbing in its many mountain ranges. The video footage he gathered on the trip was recently turned into a short documentary, The Road From Karakol.

Delving into the unknown

Delving into the unknown | Otago Daily Times Online News : Otago, South Island, New Zealand & International News

A place of mystery off the beaten path in Central Asia turns out to be a puzzle indeed, reports Sara Keen.

There’s nothing like a visit to an historic site that has mysterious origins as an added bonus. This was particularly true when my husband Ron and I, as part of a small adventure group, visited Tash Rabat in a remote spot in southern Kyrgyzstan.

Karakol Zoo – a monopoly on joy

Karakol Zoo – a monopoly on joy

It is simply amazing! When everything around is to seize and snatch, divide or multiply the already divided, are such parts of our beautiful country, where give and give. Bring joy and give up its heat. And especially children. Karakol zoo is such a place. Correct to say not a zoo and wild animal protection center.
