674bb7d001dbbf1b1daad94def5662c1_watermarked

A fascinating market at Osh Bazaar In Kyrgyzstan

2-jpgA fascinating market at Osh Bazaar In Kyrgyzstan : Places : BOOMSbeat

The city has three daily farmers’ markets, all fairly distant from the centre. Osh bazaar, 3km to the west on Chuy, though not very colourful, offers a glimpse of Kyrgyz and Uzbeks from the more conservative south of the republic. Produce is sold inside the main bazaar and all around the outside of the complex.

Visit the markets and bazaars of Central Asia: photo essay | Wandering Kiwi

Markets or bazaars featured heavily during our Central Asia odyssey. Apart from fresh food supplies they are often a great place to pick up a bus or a share taxi for transportation. They are also full of local colour and the best place to see people going about their daily lives as they have for centuries on the Silk Road in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

The Meat Girlz of Kyrgyzstan | FATHOM Travel Blog and Travel Guides

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan – I’ve been spending time in Kyrgyzstan this last year, building a collaboration with master artisans around a shyrdak (felt rug) collection for my company,l’aviva home.

In Kyrgyzstan, the awe-inspiring mountains and landscapes (towering mountains, forest-lined lakes, red-rock formations like those in the US Southwest) contrast sharply with the eerily post-Soviet cities and villages.

Travel Blog: Road into the unknown

The Silk Road we travel through desert and mountain pass. We retrace the steps of merchants, alive in eras passed. As I ponder this journey I wonder: If only they had access, they would be blogging too.

Osh: The View From Above – IWPR Institute for War & Peace Reporting – P220

It is a hot summer day in July in the city of Osh, a regional centre in the Fergana valley in southern Kyrgyzstan.

I’ve just got off the bus and I am walking towards the slopes of the city’s landmark, Sulaiman Mountain. It is known as Suleyman-Too in Kyrgyz and Sulaymon-Togh in Uzbek.
